power outage...

My house still does not have electricity from Sunday's storm. I'm writing from my mother-in-law's computer. I'm not complaining, but this tiny inconvenience has made me think about a lot! In our culture, we have come to depend on so much that is really not need-based but convenience-based. I confess that I take for granted what I have. So much so, that I think I deserve it. BUT, obviously I do not!

I've also been thinking about...in our reach of influence, what are we doing to help those that are continually "inconvenienced"? There are a lot of people that don't have a house. There are a lot of people that cannot pay the bills. There are a lot of people that live with Hurricane Ike-like effects 24/7/365. The reasons "why" shouldn't matter to us. As the church, the question should always be...how can we help? Then, in our helping, we can also help the reasons.
