As a follower of Jesus, I want my life to be like his life. This past Sunday, Pastor Mike Arnold shared a point in his message "God and Me: Who's in Charge?" that I can't shake. He said, "Jesus knew what to hold on to and what to let go of." This is easier said than done when it comes to life application. It's a constant struggle to let go of glory and serve. It's an endless battle to say no to self-seeking position for others-focused living. Some are better at this than others.
My wife and I were talking about people who seem to do this naturally. My friend, Jonathan Cooper is one, and my brother (J.H. Elliott) is another. There are many more, but these 2 come to mind when I hear the words servant leader. They seem to have the biggest hearts. They'll do anything for their friends, and they will bend over backwards for those in need. It's guys like these that exemplify the humility of Jesus.
Maybe I'll get there one day.
