I just finished this stand alone message yesterday. I got the opportunity to preach, so I chose to preach on Mephibosheth because I had heard a message on him this past summer. I chose to draw out three things from this story in 2 Samuel 9.
1. little words have a huge impact
2. David never addresses Mephibosheth by his "tag" (cripple), but he always addresses him by his "title" (grandson of King Saul, son of Jonathan)
3. David restores Mephibosheth, and David chose to do it.
David gives us a great example in this passage of how God looks at us. When God looks at us, he doesn't see our "tag"...He sees his beloved creation. God wants to restore us back to our "title"...son of God, daughter of God. I was glad that I got an opportunity to preach this.
